Our taproom will feature 12 beers on draught including the following lineup made right here in our brewery, along with several guest taps featuring other great beers from our region.
Kula (Hawaiian for “Golden”) perfectly describes our American Wheat Ale. Crisp and refreshing, this golden wheat is lightly hopped with Wisconsin Tettnanger and fermented with 125 fresh, ripe pineapples for a well-balanced yet interesting twist. Kula Wheat makes a perfect pairing with a pizza made in Broken Tree’s wood-fired oven and delivered straight to you in our taproom. Cheers!
ABV: 5.6% IBU: 17 Hops: Tettnanger
Have you ever been able to choose your own hops to bring alive a pint of pale ale with deliciously fresh hop aroma and flavors? Our CPA allows you to be the brewer and use the modern technique of dry hopping in a French Press right in front of you on the bar top. Choose from Citra, Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo, Sorachi Ace, Crystal, Centennial, Brewers Gold, or Simcoe – using an entire ounce of whole leaf hops in your pint. The freshest IPA you’ll ever have!
When we first brewed this beer, we stuck a thermometer in the mash to measure the temp and with all the oatmeal- the mash was so thick that the thermometer didn’t sink- it stuck straight up. A minute later when we weren’t looking the mash swallowed the thermometer up like Quicksand and the name was born (luckily it wasn’t a mercury thermometer!) Bold flavors of sweet brown sugar & rich dark roasted barley. A huge dose of toasted, flaked oats give this beer its velvety-smooth finish. 6.7% abv
Smooth, light, and malty, this German-style lager is loaded with Munich malt and rounded out with specialty roasted malts giving it the characteristic dark color and mild toastiness. This beer has helped convert a lot of people who thought they hated “dark beer”!
We procured barrels from two of the best Bourbon Distilleries along Kentucky’s famed Bourbon Trail: Willett Distillery (Bardstown, KY) & Jim Beam Distillery (Clermont, KY). Two different batches of our Oatmeal Stout were selected and used to fill these barrels that were just emptied and still dripping wet with bourbon. After aging for the better part of a year, this beer has developed a higher abv (8.0%), and has taken on smooth, delicate characters of charred American Oak, and the rich vanilla and caramel flavors of these two award-winning bourbons. Lion’s Tail is proud to present “Bourbon Trail Stout”.
Our “Queen Kula”, a brand new pineapple sour ale – is now on tap. Citrusy Refreshing and mildly sour with a clean, tart, dry finish. 5.5% abv, 15 IBU
“Royale with Bees” is a French-Style Saison with Local Honey. The bold spicy farmhouse/saison yeast flavors are nicely balanced with bready sweetness from Vienna malt and light notes of local Wisconsin honey. 7.5% abv
On tap starting Saturday: our special-release 1-Year Anniversary Beer. At 7.4% abv, “King Kula” is a more robust batch of our flagship Kula Wheat aged to perfection in Caribbean Rum barrels. The barrels were filled dripping wet with Mt. Gay (Barbados) Black Barrel Reserve Rum. The barrel aging transformed our Pineapple American Wheat ale- giving it smooth vanilla sweetness with spicy rum aromas and robust caramel and toasted wood character from the charred oak surface of the barrel staves.
This is our Double IPA – big flavored and bold at 7.9% abv, dry-hopped with Wisconsin Centennial & Brewers Gold Hops for a Citrus & Spice punch. At 66 IBU’s there’s enough bitterness to stand up to the big flavors but not to overcome them.
We teamed up with Brewmaster RJ Nordlund at Bare Bones Brewery (Oshkosh, WI) on our winter collaboration Imperial Stout. Big & Bold, molasses, chocolate, and light roasted coffee. 9.5%abv.
Strong yet refined, this Bock marries a traditional rich and malty character with the delectable sweetness of chocolate & cherries! We used a German lager yeast, cool fermentation temperatures, and plenty of time for lagering, which all contribute to this beer’s smooth, rich character. Kristin is named after the strong, sweet, beautiful woman that inspired this beer and made Lion’s Tail Brewing Co. a reality. 6.5% abv.
Crisp, clean, and refreshingly nostalgic- Boundary Waters Lager rides the Canadian border with a soft malt sweetness and a perfectly balanced crispy noble hop finish. This style of lager is unique in that it relies on Canadian Brewers’ maltose (and not rice or corn) to deliver clean, smooth body without being overly malty. 5.0% abv
Smooth & Silky, Sweet and Bold. This Nitrogenated Stout has our familiar and bold Brown Sugar & Oatmeal flavors. Nitro gas forms much smaller bubbles in beer than CO2; the tiny bubbles give the beer a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Nitrogen gas is tasteless, and it also replaces the somewhat harsh, carbonic flavors of CO2.
No pairing better describes Wisconsin than Beer and Cheese. We selected four different styles of award winning artisan cheeses and found the perfect pairing with Lion’s Tail beers. Our brewmaster Alex Wenzel will take you through each delicious pairing with interesting descriptions and details but leave plenty of time between courses for you to enjoy a night out with your friends. Wednesday March 22nd from 6:30 to 7:30. $25/person. The event will be limited to 40 people. To reserve a spot please email firstname.lastname@example.org or reply/comment on this Event page.
The band, KWT, is comprised of four all-star caliber musicians: saxophonist Tom Washatka bassist Kevin Wells, drummer Tony Taylor and guitarist Scott Dercks. The quartet is appealing on several levels – they are extremely good individual players who have developed a captivating synergy, they are likable people who exude a pervasive sense of fun when they play and they produce music that has evolved creatively into something both truly unique and very easy to assimilate. KWT will transform our beer lounge into a jazz lounge starting at 6pm. Order dinner from our Broken Tree Pizza or Cannova’s Fine Italian menus at our bar. No cover!
