Our taproom will feature 12 beers on draught including the following lineup made right here in our brewery, along with several guest taps featuring other great beers from our region.
Kula (Hawaiian for “Golden”) perfectly describes our American Wheat Ale. Crisp and refreshing, this golden wheat is lightly hopped with Wisconsin Tettnanger and fermented with 125 fresh, ripe pineapples for a well-balanced yet interesting twist. Kula Wheat makes a perfect pairing with a pizza made in Broken Tree’s wood-fired oven and delivered straight to you in our taproom. Cheers!

Have you ever been able to choose your own hops to bring alive a pint of pale ale with deliciously fresh hop aroma and flavors? Our CPA allows you to be the brewer and use the modern technique of dry hopping in a French Press right in front of you on the bar top. Choose from Citra, Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo, Sorachi Ace, Crystal, Centennial, Brewers Gold, or Simcoe – using an entire ounce of whole leaf hops in your pint. The freshest IPA you’ll ever have!
When we first brewed this beer, we stuck a thermometer in the mash to measure the temp and with all the oatmeal- the mash was so thick that the thermometer didn’t sink- it stuck straight up. A minute later when we weren’t looking the mash swallowed the thermometer up like Quicksand and the name was born (luckily it wasn’t a mercury thermometer!) Bold flavors of sweet brown sugar & rich dark roasted barley. A huge dose of toasted, flaked oats give this beer its velvety-smooth finish. 6.7% abv
Smooth, light, and malty, this German-style lager is loaded with Munich malt and rounded out with specialty roasted malts giving it the characteristic dark color and mild toastiness. This beer has helped convert a lot of people who thought they hated “dark beer”!
We procured barrels from two of the best Bourbon Distilleries along Kentucky’s famed Bourbon Trail: Willett Distillery (Bardstown, KY) & Jim Beam Distillery (Clermont, KY). Two different batches of our Oatmeal Stout were selected and used to fill these barrels that were just emptied and still dripping wet with bourbon. After aging for the better part of a year, this beer has developed a higher abv (8.0%), and has taken on smooth, delicate characters of charred American Oak, and the rich vanilla and caramel flavors of these two award-winning bourbons. Lion’s Tail is proud to present “Bourbon Trail Stout”.
This is our Double IPA – big flavored and bold at 7.9% abv, dry-hopped with Wisconsin Centennial & Brewers Gold Hops for a Citrus & Spice punch. At 66 IBU’s there’s enough bitterness to stand up to the big flavors but not to overcome them.
Crisp, clean, and refreshingly nostalgic- Boundary Waters Lager rides the Canadian border with a soft malt sweetness and a perfectly balanced crispy noble hop finish. This style of lager is unique in that it relies on Canadian Brewers’ maltose (and not rice or corn) to deliver clean, smooth body without being overly malty. 5.0% abv
Our 2017 Homebrew Open Competition Champion beer was so good we decided to
brew it at Lion’s Tail and share it with everyone. “(I Would Walk) 500 Milds” is an
English Mild with rich maltiness and slight notes of caramel and nutty toast from
Premium Maris Otter malt. At 4.2% abv, 500 Milds is highly sessionable. Pours a
deep amber with a white creamy head. Pairs well with fried foods, wild game,
mushrooms, and mild to sharp cheeses. Serve with 1″ of foam in an English/nonic pint at 45-50F with more malt flavor as it warms toward cellar temperature. ABV: 4.2% IBU: 17
Bavarian-style Session Hefeweizen with a big Ruby Red Grapefruit punch. Red & White wheat malts provide body and sweetness with slight clove notes from our German Hefeweizen yeast strain. The light sweetness on the front is met quickly with big grapefruit citrus with very light citrus zest bitterness on the finish. Pair this beer with summer salads, creamy cheeses, rich and savory desserts, particularly chocolate. 3.5% abv 9 ibu
Exceptionally smooth & malty with a rich toasty sweetness. The deep red color is based on “Number 90”, the signature paint color used by Appleton’s Pierce Manufacturing on their Custom Firefighting Vehicles. This beer’s toasty body is built on to two lightly kilned Vienna Malts from Wisconsin’s Briess Malt. Enjoy cold, and drink a toast to the dedicated heroes fighting fires! 4.7% abv 18 ibu
French-style Saison aged in French Oak Pinot Noir Barrels. The spicy saison yeast character is balanced with mild sweetness from local honey. Then after months on French Oak, Royale Noir picks up oaky richness and a slight Pinot grape acidity, with red wine fruits coming forward as the beer warms. You’ll be rewarded if you have the patience to let this beer warm a few minutes in the glass. Available in bomber bottles only. Next batch and draft release coming in August.
