Lion’s Tail was born from the dream of a passionate home-brewer to one day have a taproom where he could share his love for quality craft beer with more than just his family and friends. Alex’s obsession for brewing beer grew stronger as the space available in their basement to do it continued to shrink. After months of planning, Alex and Kristin Wenzel were finally able to make their dream a reality when they opened the doors to Lion’s Tail Brewing Company in November of 2015.
Our Neenah Taproom is located downtown next to the Clock Tower on Commercial Street. The 115 year old building is a shared space that used to be the Equitable Reserve Association, and has since earned its spot on the Historic Register.
Our electric 10-barrel brewhouse is just steps away from the taproom and it adds even more character to an already unique building. The taproom features three distinct seating areas which are able to be reserved for gatherings or events. Dogs are welcome on our outdoor patio, but they must be well-behaved and leashed at all times. We don’t have a kitchen ourselves, but we are fortunate to have formed a partnership with Broken Tree Pizza so that our bartenders are able to call in orders for fresh, wood-fired pizza that is delivered to the taproom. Customers are also welcome to carry-in their own food as well.
Our Wauwatosa taproom is located in the completely remodeled Wisconsin Garden & Pet Supply building on North Avenue. This location will feature a 15-barrel brewhouse in the near future so that we’re able to brew on-site at both of our locations. Not only is there a taproom, but also an event space and a partially covered, outdoor Biergarten. Dogs are welcome in our Biergarten, but they must be well-behaved and leashed at all times.
Since we don’t have a kitchen, we partnered with Sendik’s across the street to provide our customers with hot food options. We also have a local food truck on-site in the Biergarten. The food truck isn’t permanent which allows us to host a rotating variety of trucks. Customers are welcome to carry-in their own food as well.
